With the support of Holt sponsors and donors, Kumar is thriving at school!

When we first met 10-year-old Kumar, he was on the brink of dropping out of school.

He lives in poverty in Pune, India, with his mother and extended family. His mom was the sole wage earner in the family, and couldn’t support Kumar in school anymore — there just wasn’t enough money.

This is where Holt sponsors and donors came in! You helped provide the school fees, uniforms, school supplies and more that Kumar needed to continue in school.

Today, Kumar is thriving! He attends all Holt-supported events and classes in his community, including a basic literacy class with his grandmother. A Holt-supported social worker visits Kumar and his family at their home, and encourages Kumar in his education.

Recently, he even got the top grade in his class! He participates in extracurricular activities and loves sports.

“Kumar is getting confident and encouraged in his education,” says his Holt-supported social worker. “[Holt’s] early intervention and education support helped his family become strong.”
