Children are receiving the nurturing, family-like care they need to thrive.
Borom began living with his foster mom in rural Thailand when he was just 3 months old. He suffered shaken baby syndrome before he joined his foster family, and needed specialized, attentive care to heal and develop.
And his foster mom’s loving care, made possible by donors like you, has made all the difference.
“You can tell his eyes are much different from the children in the government children’s home — happy,” says Goranid “Tuk” Sudmee, the social services director at Holt’s partner organization in Thailand.
Holt helped pioneer foster care in Thailand in 1976, and today this program is funded by donors with big hearts to see it continue and grow! Because of this generosity, in just the past two years, 101 children lived with Holt-supported foster families — and 34 have gone on to join loving, permanent families through adoption!
An orphanage is never the best place for a child. That’s why, around the world, Holt works to establish foster care as an option for children. In this family-like setting, children have the nurturing attention they need to develop and to bond and thrive someday with their adoptive families.
And Holt’s donor-funded foster care program in Thailand is setting the international standard. The success of this foster care program has expanded to other countries and governments, making exponential impact for children.
Not only is this a testament to Holt’s staff and partners overseas, but it speaks to the incredible impact of the faithful, big-hearted giving of Holt donors.
And the most important impact of this large-scale program is seen in the changed lives of individual children. Children like Borom, who — as they wait to join an adoptive family or to rejoin their birth family — have the chance to grow and thrive with the loving care they need.
