In May 2020, a group of Holt staff and volunteers will travel to the Philippines to advocate for children waiting for families! Volunteers will spend the week getting to know each child individually, and will help advocate for their adoption upon returning to the U.S. Want to travel with Holt and be a part of this special advocacy program?

The Details:
1. The goal of this program is to recruit adoptive families for older children in the Philippines who dream of a family to call their own, and each Holt ambassador is asked to make a one-year commitment upon returning from the Philippines to actively tell the stories of the children we meet. Ambassadors will advocate for the children through presentations in their community, whether as part of church groups, civic groups or other local organizations. Although Holt can provide promotional materials and assist in some presentations, each ambassador will make the commitment to give these presentations mostly on their own.
2. Previous adoptive parents make great ambassadors, but experience with adoption — or personal interest in adopting — is not required!
3. Each ambassador will be responsible for his or her own roundtrip airfare to the Philippines. The cost of lodging in the Philippines will be covered by the Holt Ambassador Program, with two ambassadors sharing a hotel room. Holt will also cover the cost of two meals — breakfast and either lunch of dinner — each day for each ambassador.
4. During our travels in the Philippines each ambassador will be expected to write at least one entry in our travel blog, so those following our journey back home can read about our experiences as they are happening. Once home, ambassadors will also write one entry that summarizes their thoughts/feelings about what they just experienced. If you are moved to write more, that’s wonderful!
As an ambassador, you will have a very important role in advocating for these children! You will have a chance to connect with each child one-on-one and help find them the loving, permanent families they deserve. Read posts from previous ambassadors for more insight on this rewarding experience!
