Hi, I'm Leakhena
I'm a girl, 3 years old and live in Cambodia.
Leakhena was enrolled in the community preschool by her parents. Her age was right for schooling and her parents believed that going to school could help her prepare well for grade 1. This family lives in their own house made of wood with tile roof, and they have land for growing rice as well. Leakhena lives with her parents and grandparents. She is a single child in the family. Her father and grandfather are construction workers, and earns 12.5$ a day in each. Her mother is a garment worker in the factory, and earns 250$ a month. Her grandmother grows rice and raises some animals. This family has sufficient food to eat and is better financially, but their children lack proper education because the public school is far from home. That is why they would like Leakhena to study at a community preschool nearby, which is supported by Holt-International.
