Hi, I'm Sophorn
I'm a girl, 4 years old and live in Cambodia.
Sophorn was enrolled in the community preschool by her parents. Her age was right for schooling and her parents believed that going to school could help her prepare well for grade 1. This family lives in their own house (7x8 meters) and they have land for growing rice. Sophorn lives with her parents, a grandmother, and two brothers. She is the last child in the family. Her father grows rice and raises animals at home and her mother is a vegetable seller, and earns 8$ a day. Her grandmother stays at home. Her brothers are students. This family has sufficient food to eat and is better financially, but their children lack proper education because the public school is far from home. That is why they would like Sophorn to study at a community preschool nearby, which is supported by Holt-International.
