Hi, I'm Sokla
I'm a girl, 6 years old and live in Cambodia.
Sokla was enrolled in the community preschool by her parents. Her age was right for schooling and her parents believed that going to school could help her prepare well for grade 1. She looked physically and mentally fine at the time of enrollment into the program. Sokla lives with her parents, a grandmother, an aunt, and a brother. She is a first child in the family. This family lives in their own house and they have land for growing rice. Her father is a farmer; he grows rice and raises some chicken at home. Her mother is preschool teacher, and earns USD 100 a month. Her grandmother stays at home. Her aunt is a farmer. Her brother is 5 months old. This family has sufficient food to eat and better financial, but their children lack in proper education because the public school is far and difficult to access that is why they would like Sokla to study at community preschool nearby which is supported by Holt-International.
