Self-portrait by older waiting child Dakota in SNP adoption program

Meet Dakota! Pictured above is his self-portrait. Thirteen-year-old Dakota needs a loving, active family that is familiar with — or willing to learn about — older child adoption. Could you or someone you know be the right family for Dakota?

When Holt social workers recently met Dakota, he shared with them that he is not the best artist — but you can see his love for basketball in his drawing! Dakota was very engaging and cooperative with the Holt social work team, and his caregivers describe him as a smart and well-behaved child. He lives with a foster family and has adjusted well to the family dynamics since going to live with them. Dakota enjoys playing with other children, and his caregivers say he does well in school. He also has a great sense of humor.

Dakota needs an adoptive family that is familiar with — or willing to learn about — the complexities of older child adoption. A family that enjoys being active, like attending sporting events and being an active part of their community, would also be a good fit for Dakota. And he would do well in a family where he has siblings.

If you are interested in learning more about Dakota, the Holt social work team would love to tell you more about their time with him!

If you think you or someone you know could be the right family for Dakota, please email our waiting child team at [email protected]! We cannot share photos of him publicly due to country restrictions on privacy. However, our social work team took many photos and videos of him to share with prospective families.
