Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)®
Connect with, empower and correct your child using the TBRI parenting approach — designed to meet the needs of children who have experienced trauma.
What is Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)?
TBRI, or Trust-Based Relational Intervention, is a parenting intervention created and developed by Dr. David Cross and Dr. Karyn Purvis at Texas Christian University’s Institute of Child Development. TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed parenting approach that is designed to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced trauma — combining nurturing and structure to help parents correct their children’s behavior without losing vital emotional connections. This approach teaches respect and cooperation while also being loving and playful.
Through TBRI, parents are equipped with the skills needed to help their children heal from past relational traumas — and build stronger relationships with each other.
