Hi, I'm Vy
I'm a girl, 4 years old and live in Vietnam.
Tran Ha Vy is the only child in a single-parent family living near poverty line in Van Thai commune, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi, Vietnam. She lives with her mother and maternal grandmother. She has not met her father since birth and her mother does not disclose her father’s identity. Vy’s mother is a second-generation victim of Agent Orange. She receives $40 a month as government subsidy for those affected by Agent Orange. She earns a living from manual rice transplanting and vegetable sales at local market. Her income is about $20 a month. Vy’s grandmother does not have pension and often falls sick due to old age. She fell and was hospitalized last month, paying $200 in hospital fees. In order to send Vy to school, her mother usually borrows money from relatives and tries to pay back within a year.
