Selah Needs an Adoptive Family!

Selah needs an adoptive family! Could you or someone you know be the right fit for her?

Caregivers say Selah is confident and a leader, and even at 6 years old she also understands how and when to follow her caregivers and teachers. Selah is well-liked and has trusting relationships with other children and caregivers in her orphanage.

She is initially shy in an unfamiliar environment, but she is consistently affectionate towards caregivers and friends. When we met Selah in fall 2022, she was hesitant to interact with us until we had a short conversation with her and then she had fun playing games with us!

When we met Selah, she told us her favorite things to play with were Play-Doh and princess dolls. Her favorite meals include rice with a fried egg, noodles with pork and a traditional dessert. She told us about her best friend and that they enjoy playing dolls together. Her caregiver told us that he loves her intentionality and her ability to concentrate. Her caregiver believes she would do well in an adoptive family.

Caregivers say Selah enjoys doing new things, seeks the approval of adults, and understands the difference between right and wrong. She can express her wishes and feelings to adults. She follows instructions and actively participates in the orphanage’s daily activities. Selah prefers to play with other children rather than play alone. She plays well with others and can take turns. Caregivers say she focuses well and is persistent when facing challenges.

Selah is developmentally on target, but she has a complicated heart condition that will require ongoing treatment. The ideal adoptive family Selah needs will have an understanding of medical needs and have access to specialized medical care. The family should be familiar with institutionalization and practice TBRI® techniques to create an environment of safety for Selah.

Could you or someone you know be a good fit for sweet Selah? If so, please email us at [email protected]. Her face is hidden here due to country restrictions on child privacy, but our staff recently spent time with Selah and we would love to share photos, videos and impression with prospective families!
