Cam is a caring and joyous boy who is described by caregivers as active and curious. He enjoys pretend playing and sharing toys with friends. He is said to become very excited when he sees roasted chicken for dinner, for that is his favorite food.

Cam’s gross motor skills have developed well, and he is still practicing his fine motor skills. He can speak in complete sentences with clear pronunciation. Caretakers say he can express his thoughts and feelings to others well. Cam is also able to do daily hygienic activities – like brushing teeth, washing, changing clothes – on his own. Caregivers say he follows rules and obeys orders well.

An ideal adoptive family for Cam should have adequate access to medical care, therapeutic (speech, physical and occupational) resources, and strong academic supports. His adoptive family must understand the impact of trauma and institutionalization on overall child development and behavior. The adoptive parents must be prepared to offer a patient and connected approach to help him develop strong attachments and a sense of safety.
