Meet Nathaniel! He needs an adoptive family! Could you or someone you know be the right fit for this smiley waiting child?
Nathaniel is a sweet, easy-going baby boy who is waiting for a permanent, loving family. Currently in foster care, Nathaniel is supported by early childhood services and nutritional care. He is meeting developmental expectations for his motor, social and language skills. Nathaniel enjoys going for walks, being read to, interacting with others and being held. His favorite foods include steamed rice with omelets, chicken soup with tofu, fried meat, ripe mango, coconut jelly and soft bread. He naps once a day for three to four hours in a cloth cradle.
Nathaniel is making great strides in his physical development. He can crawl, pull himself to stand and walk while holding onto furniture. He has even started taking independent steps! Nathaniel loves to climb on tables, chairs and shelves — and knows how to climb down safely by backing up. Lately he’s been practicing how to comb his hair and feed himself with a spoon, and he’s also learning to put on his socks, although he still needs a little help.
This bright little boy understands and follows simple commands like clapping his hands and waving goodbye. He has started vocalizing single-syllable words such as “dad,” “fish,” “cat” and “bye,” though his pronunciation is still developing.
Nathaniel would be supported best by an adoptive family who is patient, nurturing and prepared to support his continued growth. An ideal adoptive family will have access to pediatric care for follow-up appointments and be equipped to parent a child who has experienced early adversity.
