Thank you for providing warm winter coats for children in China!
China’s cold winters can feel even colder for children living in poverty. Many families don’t have heaters to warm their homes. And few can afford anything but cheap cotton coats for their kids to wear all season.
But this winter, children in Holt’s educational sponsorship program in China will stay warm and cozy, bundled up in heavy down coats you generously gave them for Christmas!
The nearly 300 children in this program live at home with their families, but their parents can’t afford to send them to school. The monthly gifts of Holt child sponsors make it possible for them to attend two boarding schools in their home province. Sponsors provide everything from tuition and school supplies to uniforms and warm meals.
Every year, sponsors and donors also come together to give each child in Holt programs around the world a Christmas gift and party! Although the celebrations look different in each country, every child receives a special present.
In China, you made it possible to purchase a down coat for every child in these two programs.
The staff took each child’s measurements beforehand to make sure they fit. And when they arrived, the kids were so excited to put on their puffy, knee-length coats in pink, black, blue and red — with hoods to cover their heads, and long sleeves to tuck in their hands.
Thank you for providing coats to help children in China stay warm and dry all winter long! See more photos below…
