Hi, I'm Yasmine

I'm 11 years old and live in Worldwide.

November 2012

Yasmine can write neatly, color and draw pictures, likes to read, and is keeping up with her peers. She is able to communicate her wants, needs and thoughts. She understands the concept of right and wrong and follows the rules. She has expressed her desire to be adopted and have a mom & dad.

Yasmine has an abnormal brain MRI showing damage similar to a stroke. She has left hemiparesis and has left-sided weakness and her walk/run is imbalanced.

Yasmine walks, runs, and moves with a slight imbalance, mostly using the right side of her body. Her imbalance and coordination is improving with the help of daily exercise, and she can run up and down the stairs, dodge a ball, and jump continuously for a certain amount of time.

Yasmine needs an adoptive family who is warm, nurturing and “joyful”. Her adoptive family will need to provide ongoing therapies including OT and likely PT/speech, with a possibility of additional educational supports. The family should be open to potential intellectual delay and should understand older child adoption and the impacts of developmental trauma and institutionalization.

I want to know more about Yasmine.
