Hi, I'm Abdul Shakur
I'm a boy, 4 years old and live in Uganda.
Shakur stays with both parents at Kyampogola village together with other five siblings at home. They stay on a small plot of land not big enough for cultivation. The parents are peasant farmers and do casual labour to survive at home with their children. Given the change in seasons and the long period of drought, the family harvest less. This is not enough to sustain them with the children. Shakur is the fourth child among the six children at home. The caregivers are unable to support children due to lack of funds to meet education requirements, beddings, medical services, nutrition and other basics at home like clothings, good shelter and day to day needs at home. He enrolled in baby class but they have been irregular in class due to lack of school requirements, says the mother.
