Hi, I'm Ananya
I'm a girl, 10 years old and live in Thailand.
At that time, child was 8 years old and was in grade 2. She was under the care of her mother and grandmother. The child's father was serving a drug-related sentence. The child's mother sold sweet sticky rice and earned 400 baht per day, selling for three days a week. The child's grandmother worked as a helper in a restaurant. In addition to the child, the family looked after a 17-year-old girl (an uncle’s daughter), who was studying in grade 11. They lived in a rented house for 1,500 baht per month, which was a single-story cement house with a bathroom inside the house. They paid 300 baht for electricity per month. They also had to send money to the child's father, who was in prison, from time to time. The family's income was not sufficient to cover their expenses. A neighbor, who was a former beneficiary of our services, recommended seeking advice on school supplies for the child.
