Hands of Gratitude

Children in Holt’s child sponsorship program love to thank their sponsors with letters and drawings. Here’s a drawing from 3-year-old Cao in Vietnam.

Cao lives in Vietnam with her parents and two brothers. Her father works as a laborer in the banana fields. He also grows acacia trees seasonally. Cao’s father works hard, but the income is low because of the seasonal nature of his work. Cao’s mother stays home to care for her children and manage the household.

Due to their low income, Cao and her family face challenges with day-to-day expenses, particularly with Cao’s education. Because the family cannot afford to send Cao to school, her mother must stay home instead of working in the fields to earn more income for the family.

That’s where you’ve stepped in! Ever since you sponsored Cao, she has attended kindergarten, allowing her mom to work part-time in the fields to earn more for the family. Your support for Cao’s education has not only provided a path for her to attend school but also ensures she receives a school lunch each day.

Thanks to your support, Cao is a growing, healthy little girl! She has made many friends at school and her teachers say she is a great student. She is learning so much! Her favorite time of the day is listening to storytelling. Her favorite story is “A Good Friend.”

Cao has a bright imagination and loves pretending she’s a chef during playtime. She also enjoys playing “Cat and Mouse” on the playground. She looks forward to her school lunch each day — and says she savors every bite! When the school day ends, her mother is waiting there to pick her up. Every day ends the same way: they embrace in a big hug!

Because of your sponsorship, Cao can go to kindergarten, which is so precious to her and her family. Thank you for changing her life!
