Thanks to the generous support of donors feeding hungry children, these sisters in Cambodia now have full bellies and bright futures.
Malis, Pich and Leakena — ages 14, 13 and 7 — live in a rural village in Cambodia. Their family of five shares a small home with no electricity.
Their father makes and sells knives, while their mother raises chickens and ducks for eggs. They grow rice to help keep food on the table, but the harvest lasts only two months. For the rest of the year, the family struggles to afford food — sacrificing school supplies, clothes and shoes just to buy rice.
Malis, the oldest, felt embarrassed in public. When she was invited to a birthday party, she felt ashamed of her tattered clothes.
But everything changed when Holt sponsors and donors stepped in. In their time of greatest need, the family received emergency food rations — and all three girls were sponsored!
“We are truly grateful to Holt International for supporting our family during this difficult time,” their mom says. “These items are not just helpful, they are life changing for us.”
Now, the girls go to school with full stomachs. They have uniforms, school supplies — and, thanks to you, hope.
