Thirteen-year-old Dany used to shiver in bed at night, covered only by a thin sheet. Even with eight family members packed into their small home in Cambodia, the night chill kept him awake.
Dany’s father works in construction while his mother cares for the family, including Dany’s grandmother, who is bedridden. With just one income, they struggle to afford daily essentials.
New winter clothing and warm blankets for all five children simply wasn’t in their budget. And when the temperatures dropped, Dany and his siblings would get very sick, often missing many days of school.
