Thanks to the generous support of Holt donors, Jia and her classmates received winter coats and shoes just in time!
Jia walked to school in a coat passed down to her by a neighbor. It was stained, and the stretched-out collar let cold air seep down her back.
In northwest China, where Jia and her classmates live, winter temperatures average 10°F — and sometimes drop to nearly -25°F. Strong winds make the walk to school frigid.
Neither Jia nor her classmates had proper winter clothes to keep them warm. Even indoors, especially in homes without good insulation, they shivered from the cold.
That is, until you sent coats and shoes to China!

For the first time, Jia has a warm coat that’s all hers.
Because of your generosity, Jia received a fleece sweatshirt and a new down jacket. For the first time, she had a coat that was all her own.
Her classmates received winter clothes too — no more worn-out hand-me-downs or leaky boots. New fleece-lined sneakers are keeping their feet toasty warm.
Because of your kind heart, Jia and her classmates are no longer shivering this winter!
