Hi, I'm Josh
I'm 15 years old and live in Colombia.
Josh (07/2008) is described as being a kind, calm, cheerful, expressive, sociable, attentive and dynamic child who can focus on activities, likes to be involved and can express himself easily. He is said to recognize norms and rules and respects authority figures in his life. Josh was especially close with a previous foster mother. He is noted as being reflective about his life and has hopes and dreams for himself in the future. Josh has developed self-regulation skills that help him handle frustration and control his impulses, and if he needs help, he is able to seek help from a trusted adult.
Developmentally, his motor skills appear to be on target for his age. In language, his speech is clear and on target for his age. Cognitively, he does not have any attention issues, can focus on tasks and school, and his mental exam was on target for his age. Socially, he is equally able to socialize with adults and his peers. He enjoys having friends and often takes initiative as the leader in a group of his peers. In school, Josh enjoys participating in music, ceramics and theater. He receives additional support in academic areas. He enjoys math and science the most and is described as a dedicated student. His current caretakers describe him as being responsible, respectful, loving, honest, sincere, and flexible.
Josh enjoys playing games, dancing, singing, playing board games, playing tennis and soccer, watching tv, drawing and writing. When sad, he finds comfort in drawing and writing the most. He enjoys being around pets and especially likes dogs (although he does have a fear of larger breeds).
Josh’s ideal adoptive family will provide a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment for him. The family will be well versed in TBRI. Strong community resources and Spanish speaking supports are important, as well as excellent medical insurance.
