Oscar and Rebekah are waiting to welcome a child into their heart and home through open adoption.
Learn more about them!
Dear Expectant Mother,
We cannot begin to imagine what this decision is like for you. We want you to know that we deeply respect the journey that has led you to this place in your life and to this decision, regardless of what your choice may end up being. If you do happen to choose us to be your baby’s adoptive parents, we want you to know that we will fiercely love and support your baby, just as we do our daughter, Elena, who also came to us through adoption. Your child will grow up in a home filled with kindness and laughter, and they will be encouraged and supported so that they can forge their own path.
We have no set idea on how open or closed this adoption must be. We want to respect your wishes and work together to set a plan, and we understand this plan may change as the years go on. We are grateful for you taking the time to consider us as potential adoptive parents for your baby and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Our Story
We met 16 years ago volunteering in a free dental clinic in Oscar’s hometown of Granada, Nicaragua. Just over one year later we got married in that same town. Oscar graduated from dental school shortly thereafter and a few months later we moved to the United States together. After that came more schooling, career building and lots and lots of moving. Now, 16 years later, we have added a kind, strong-willed daughter to the family through adoption, we are both in stable careers we love, and we are ready to add another personality (or two) to the group and see where things go next. We will support our children in pursuing their dreams, whatever those may be, just as we have always supported each other and just as we support our daughter.

About Us
About Oscar
Hometown: Granada, Nicaragua
Languages: Spanish and English
Occupation: Director of Operations for a dental management company
Favorite Activities: Running after our daughter, Elena, bike riding, triathlons and cooking
Oscar in Rebekah’s words
Oscar lives to make life better for those he loves. He is constantly thinking about what he can do to fix any tough situation. Even if that means doing something as simple as making you laugh when you’re having a rough day. When Oscar has your back, it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything. Another thing I admire about him is that he is very driven and accomplishes everything he puts his mind to. He is an amazing father because he is a great example and source of encouragement; but at the same time he also knows how to keep things in perspective and not take life too seriously.

About Rebekah
Hometown: Northwest Indiana
Languages: Spanish and English
Occupation: Immigration Attorney working with unaccompanied children
Favorite Activities: Playing in the park with our daughter, Elena, bike riding, yoga, reading and baking
Rebekah in Oscar’s words
Rebekah is the reason why home is home and not just a house, because she puts her heart and soul into our home. She is very passionate and anything she sets her mind to, she does it with her absolute all. One of the main things I love about her, other than the fact that she is extremely interesting and funny, is her honesty. Her honesty is a gift and a chance to grow, and this is one of the many reasons she is an amazing mother. No matter what, Rebekah’s love and honesty will always guide our children. I know that our children are and will be everything and more in her life, that she would do anything to protect them, to make them happy, healthy, and safe.

Our Child, Elena
Favorite things: Unicorn Pacifier, Mama and Papa
Favorite activities: Dancing, going to the playground, “reading” her books
Favorite foods: black beans, broccoli and ice cream
Elena came to us through adoption in 2020. We feel so fortunate to have been chosen by her birth mother to be her parents. She has made us a family and Elena has been the joy of every day since we brought her home. We are certain Elena will be a wonderful big sister. Although she is energetic and adventurous, she has a very kind and caring side to her. She loves to hug and cuddle. She awws over babies and stuffed toys and will console anyone who is crying. We hope to raise her and her sibling (or siblings) to trust and love each other unconditionally. We hope they can be a source of support for each other throughout their lives.

Our Home & Where We Spend Our Time
We currently live in Chicago. We are within walking distance to the lake path, several parks and playgrounds, the Museum Campus, and excellent schools. We cannot wait to share all the city has to offer with our children as they grow! While we love our neighborhood, we also enjoy our time away from the city. We take trips to the beach in the summer. And, we often travel on weekends throughout the year to see Rebekah’s parents in central Indiana where they live on roughly 40 acres of hilly woodland. We spend our time there being active outdoors and hanging out with family enjoying the quieter moments in life.

Our Families
We both come from relatively large families. Oscar is the middle of 3 siblings and has several half-siblings and Rebekah is the middle of 5 siblings. Between the two of us, we have 17 nieces and nephews. They range in ages from 21 years old to 1 year old. (This picture includes some of both our families.)

We are both bilingual in Spanish and English. This is necessary because Oscar’s family mostly speak only Spanish and Rebekah’s mostly only English. We are raising our daughter, Elena to also be bilingual and we will raise our future children to also be bilingual.
Our families are spread out over multiple countries and states within the U.S. Even though we are spread out, we prioritize spending time with family and we feel very lucky to be able to travel both out of state and across the world to do so often. When we cannot be together in person we stay in contact through text, weekly, if not daily. Both of our families are incredibly close-knit and excited to welcome a new member. They cannot wait to shower this new addition with attention and love!
Pets
Chicharron (aka Cheech) is our dog. Chicharron is the Spanish name for fried pork rinds. We adopted Cheech from a shelter in eastern Tennessee when we lived there for a few months for one of Oscar’s jobs.
Cheech in 3 words: disproportionate, demanding, endearing
Likes: belly rubs, frozen dog yogurt
Arch Nemesis: horses

One of our favorite things to do
We love traveling. We travel outside of the U.S. at least once a year, if not more, and within the U.S. numerous times throughout the year. When we travel, one of our favorite things to do is to try the unique local food wherever we are. We do not always love or even like what we try but we at least try everything once. We look forward to encouraging a sense of curiosity like this in our children.
