Nia is waiting for an adoptive family! Like many fifteen-year-olds, Nia loves listening to music, writing in her diary and spending time with her friends from school.
Despite the adjustment to remote school lessons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her school grades have improved. Nia is working on her English and has been taking some extra tutoring classes for practice. She does well in physical education classes like dancing and volleyball. In January 2017, Nia received a certificate of recognition for good behavior and an educational support grant to continue attending boarding school.
Nia’s caregivers say she can be shy, but she has become more confident after joining her school’s stage performance program. She likes joining in extracurricular activities, including the singing program and the dessert/cooking club. Her favorite thing to do is cook! She dreams of becoming a chef one day and hopes to study at culinary school. At home, she helps with chores around the house and enjoys the chance to cook for her caregivers and practice her skills.
Nia is waiting for a loving and permanent adoptive family but will soon age out of adoption eligibility. The best fit for Nia is a family who is knowledgeable about older child adoption and has access to excellent educational and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) resources to help Nia thrive. Could you or someone you know be the right family for Nia?
