Learn About HoltHolt International History
For over 50 years Holt International has been dedicated to carrying out God’s plan for every child to have a permanent, loving family.
The Korean War left thousands of children orphaned, destitute and growing up in inadequate orphanages. In America Harry and Bertha Holt learned of the children’s plight, and with God-inspired insight, realized that those children needed families more than anything else. In 1955 the Holts adopted eight Korean children.
But the Holts could not forget the children left behind. In 1956 they launched a pioneering work to care for children and unite them with adoptive families. Since then Holt has expanded around the world. The mission now includes programs to prevent child abandonment and to reunite children with their birth families.
Holt’s work is still inspired by the faith and vision of its founders and by the needs of every child without a family.
