Additional ways you can help
Sponsors can give to their child in other ways as well. Pray for her and her future family. Send letters and small gifts which fit in standard envelopes, such as stickers and postcards. Give donations for holidays and her birthday. Your support gives your sponsored child the knowledge that someone, somewhere cares for her. Imagine an abandoned child's wonder when she receives a letter from a person on another continent who is concerned for her well-being. The knowledge that a sponsor cares is priceless. See our Sponsorship Stories to learn the impact sponsors have on homeless children.
Holt's Mission
Holt International Children's Services is dedicated to carrying out God's plan for every child to have a permanent, loving home through:
- reunite the child with his/her birth family, if this is best for the child.
- place the child with an adoptive family in the child's birth country.
- place the child with an adoptive family from another country.
Special Cases
Approximately 10% of the children leaving sponsorship each year are not returned to their birth family or adopted. The majority of these children fall into two groups. Mentally and physically challenged children sometimes require long-term care because adoption has not proved to be an option for them. They may remain in the program until they become adults or until they enter a long-term care facility. The second group is comprised of young students who have stable, loving families but cannot afford to continue their education without sponsors' assistance. These students leave the program once they have graduated from high school.
