Holt Romania Foundation:
Holt Romania Foundation (HRF) is a national Romanian organization founded by Holt International Children’s Services in 2002. With more than 12 years experience in child and family protection, Holt Romania Foundation staff and programs remain committed to Harry Holt’s vision that “Every child deserves a home of his own”.
The mission of Holt Romania is to offer every child the chance to be part of a family by developing and implementing social services and programs that contribute to maintaining the relationship between children and their birth families whenever possible; avoiding abuse, neglect, institutionalization and abandonment; reintegration of institutionalized children into their birth families whenever it is in the best interest of the child and placing eligible children with adoptive Romanian families.
Services of HRF include: family preservation/crisis intervention; emergency shelter services for mother and child; domestic adoption; long term foster care; parent education as well as training and technical assistance in the child welfare field. HRF programs are developed in direct collaboration with central and local authorities as well as private sector partners active in child protection. Current donor partnerships include Holt International Children’s Services, The LIFT Foundation of California, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCHOR) and UNICEF Romania.

Close To You:
Close to You (CTY) is a national Romanian organization founded by Holt International Children’s Services in March 2002. CTY support focus is to the National Associations of HIV Infected and Affected Persons and non-governmental organizations working with HIV/AIDS impacted children and their families in Romania. Services include organizational development to partner organizations as well as direct services to HIV+ children and their families. Direct services include counseling for families at time of diagnosis; emergency crisis support to families; foster care for abandoned HIV+ children; organizational support and consulting for 22 parent associations; advocacy and public awareness; publication of training and technical assistance materials in the HIV/AIDS field.
Close To You is currently supported by Holt International Children’s Services, the Moshino Foundation of Italy, United Methodist Committee on Relief, UNICEF Romania, World Learning’s ChildNet Program and most recently the Global Fund for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis.
