Services in the Philippines

Established in 1976, Kaisahang Buhay Foundation (KBF), Holt’s partner agency in the Philippines is incorporated as a nonprofit child and family welfare agency. KBF is a leader in child welfare services and has developed a range of services from crisis intervention to adoption.

Holt and KBF partnering together provide a wealth of services to abandoned children, and children at risk of abandonment, in the Philippines.

Family Preservation KBF provides crisis counseling and other emergency assistance to more than 200 families each year to prevent abandonment or help families reunite.

Single Mothers Home KBF provides housing, counseling, pre-natal care and post-delivery services to pregnant single mothers. Approximately 175 expectant mothers are provided residential services, counseling or other assistance each year.

Daycare Center Daycare services provide nutritious meals, medical assistance and developmentally appropriate learning activities to more than 550 children in low-income communities in Metro Manila.

Child Caring Agency Support HCCS works in partnership with government orphanages to develop and Technical and financial support is provided to approximately 10 independent childcaring agencies that serve more than 500 children each year. Many abandoned children reside in childcaring centers while they wait for a permanent home.

Foster Care KBF is a pioneer in foster care services in the Philippines, serving nearly 150 children each year. While children are in foster care KBF social workers help reunite the family or place the child in an adoptive family as appropriate. Holt and KBF support government foster care initiatives.

Genesis Home Genesis Home is an independent living home run by KBF for 15 older children who are unable to return home and have not been placed in the adoption pro-gram. Residents are provided scholarship support for their education.

Domestic Adoption KBF is the only private local licensed domestic adoption agency recognized by the Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Each year about 15 domestic adoptions are processed through KBF.

Intercountry Adoption Filipino law prohibits childcaring agencies from placing children in their care directly with adoptive families through the international agencies they represent. KBF acts as Holt International’s liaison with DSWD in the placement of children from other childcaring centers. Approximately 25 children are placed each year with Holt families in the United States.
