H.R. 2873, The Promoting Safe and Stable Families Amendments of 2001

This legislation will reauthorize the Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program that expires at the end of fiscal year 2001.

H.R. 2873, The Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program, is used for family support, family preservation, time-limited family reunification services and adoption promotion and support for adoptive families.

This legislation is critical to providing necessary support for preventative and adoption services and vouchers for youths who age out of foster care.

Please act now!

ACTION NEEDED:

THIS FUNDING IS IN JEOPARDY!
On Sept. 25, the House Ways and Means subcommittee voted to reject President Bush's request to increase funding for the Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program by $1 billion over five years.

The full House Ways and Means committee is expected to vote on the subcommittee-approved bill (H.R. 2871) in the next two weeks. ACT NOW to save the President's proposal.
