LANDRIEU-CRAIG AMENDMENT INCLUDED IN FINAL CONFERENCE REPORT!
Holt wishes to thank everyone who worked hard to secure the Congressional support necessary to pass this legislation, particularly the effort to include the Landrieu-Craig special needs adoption provision.
Holt especially thanks Senators Landrieu and Craig for sponsoring the Hope for Children Act in the Senate and to Representatives DeMint and Oberstar for sponsoring the legislation in the House.
The Senate's (Landrieu-Craig) Adoption amendment with the special needs provision DID make it into the final conference report for the Tax Relief Act.
The conference report (H.Rpt. 107-84) was filed at 5:17 this morning (Saturday).
The bill (HR 1836) cleared the House at 10:10 AM (Saturday), on a 240-154 vote.
The bill cleared the Senate about 12:35 PM (Saturday), on a 58-33 vote.
We will continue to post additional information as it becomes available, including a report on how and when this legislation will be effective.
