Arkansas

Our next informational meeting for prospective adoptive parents and a support group for existing Holt families will be held in Little Rock, Ark. on Sunday, June 13. The meeting for prospective adoptive parents will be held from 1:00–2:30, followed by a meeting for all families from 2:30–4:30. If you wish to attend or know of anyone interested in learning more about international adoption, please call the office at 501/568-2827 for details and to RSVP.

We still need adoptive families for children of many countries, and welcome those interested to call our office or log onto Holt’s website.

Midwest

More than $20,000 was raised to support Holt's new program in Haiti at Holt’s Nebraska fundraiser in February. Thank you to Traci Frerichs and her band of volunteers, who helped make the event a success. Volunteering is a wonderful way to connect with other adoptive families and help care for homeless children. Please contact the office to learn how you can help.

New Jersey

We are now looking ahead to our summer activities. First up is Holt Day, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 6. Once again, Anthony and Chris Catanoso are opening the Steel Pier Amusement Park in Atlantic City to all Holt Families. Entrance will begin at noon, and activities continue until midnight. More information will be available mid-summer.

Applications are also being accepted for Camp Friendship, a Korean culture day camp of K–7th grade Korean adoptees. The camp is scheduled for July 19–23 at the Shrine of St. Joseph in Stirling, N.J. For more information contact Cathy Feeny at 732/988-9077 or Lynn Bocchini at 973/226-5304.

As many of you know, I will be retiring in a few months after 27 years at Holt. Christina Schuetz has begun training as the new NJ Branch Director, and brings a unique set of qualifications such as an MSW and LCSW. She also supervised a staff of 20 while working for Children's Home Society of N.J. She will assume responsiblities on May 25, and I will officially retire at the end of June.
