Through the years Holt founder Grandma Bertha Holt (1904-2000) sent thousands of letters to Holt families and adoptees. She wrote some of her most cherished messages to the readers of
Hi Families. Here is an abbreviated archive of Grandmas letters and prayers published in Holts magazine. We will continue to add more over the next several issues.

Quote From Grandma to be released upon her death:
Written, Tuesday April 1, 1997
My earnest desire is that everyone who has heard me speak will be with me when we are gathered together in heaven to sing praises to our Savior. That every one of you, though you are unworthy as I am, will be washed clean of our sins by the blood of our Savior and forgiven.
We are all sinners, we inherited sin from Adam. And God said, the sinner must die, so not one of us can get to heaven by our own good works. Our works are as filthy rags. We are helpless and hopeless sinners before our just God.
But God loved us and planned a way to save us. In the Old Testament, before Christ came to this planet, God accepted the blood of certain animals, a bullock, or lamb or a goat, for sinners who sacrificed those animals to die as a substitute for their own sins. They kept sinning but kept on sacrificing more animals. But the blood of those animals only covered their sins, it didn't take them away. God planned for a holy human being to be the real substitute. But all mankind inherited Adam's sin, so God Himself, the Christ, the Son of God, chose to be born of a virgin and die on the Roman cross, so His blood could wash away our sins. Jesus was not related to Adam, He did not have one sinful gene in Him, He is sinless so He is the only human being who could die for our sins. So his death opened the way for us to be forgiven, so by believing this and accepting Him as our Savior we can be forgiven and inherit eternal life with Him. God can forgive us and still be just because Christ died instead of us.
We must first sincerely repent, know we are sinners and be sorry for them, then we must confess our sins to God, not to another person - he is another sinner, but to God, then He forgives us. Please, you grown-ups do that, and teach your children to do it while they are young. Then you will all be with me when we sing with the angels, worshipping our Savior in heaven.
Praise ye the Lord, Praise God in His Sanctuary, praise Him in the firmament of His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts. Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Let everything that hath breath Praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. (from Psalm 150)
