Nepal families, let's hear how you're doing!

I'd love to read updates of the process as you move forward (are you moving forward??) Our family is too large, but if it weren't, I'd adopt from Nepal in a heartbeat. It's the only other country besides India that really tugs at my heart.

Can I live vicariously through you?

Have there been any referrals yet, or is the process still getting sorted out? Holt continues to sound optimistic that it will be a successful program!

Praying for you brave pioneers!

If you'd like to read of a wonderful organization bringing clean water to orphanages, including in Nepal (beautiful photos, too) go to http://www.a-childs-right.org/projects.html They also have done projects in China and Cambodia and have worked with Half the Sky.

Blessings,

Nepal program

Postby JoBon » Thu Jan 08, 2009 6:49 pm

We are currently in the process of adoptng from Nepal. Our dossier is in Nepal waiting for a referral right now. Holt is currently waiting for the "Guarentee Letter" from the U.S. Embassy before they can officially turn our dossier in for a LID.

We know with this being a newly opening program that there can be and have been unexpected turns but we feel it will all be worth it.

We are so very excited to travel to Nepal and to finally meet our daughter.

We too have a blog site if you are interested: www.donohueadopt.blogspot.com

We're in the same holding pattern: dossier in Nepal waiting on the US Embassy to issue a Guarantee letter. Hopefully we'll have our dossiers submitted by early February.

I thought I'd add an update. Our dossier along with the dossiers of 5 other holt families were submitted to Nepal's ministry of women children and social welfare on Feb 3rd. Now we wait to hear news about referrals starting.

Excellent news! Yay, Holt!

Keep us posted on your progress. that is so exciting!

I sure wish larger families could adopt from Nepal. :( How will they get their older children and SN children adopted? (at least in numbers to make a dent)

Hi, Thought I'd add an update. Nepal has started referrals (May2009). Thus far 5 of the initial 10 families have received referrals, and we are in various stages of waiting for Nepal's Ministry to issue it's final approval. The first group of referrals are hoping to hear the Ministry's final decision by the end of June!

H Sandwich,

We can't wait to meet our children too (daughter in our case).
Unfortunately movement in adoptions in Nepal is being delayed by issues related to the political instability in Nepal. No new referrals have been issued and no final approvals/travel approvals have been issued. I'm hopeful there will be some movement by mid August. Most of us are a bit frustrated, but realize that this is to be expected in a new program in a country with a history of political instability.

Teryl,

I'm sorry you've hit a snag. It is so frustrating! Is Holt hopeful that this will be able to go forward?

Praying for movement and for your sweet daughter to come home. Are you able to share any info about her?

blessings,
Sandwich
