Sweaty Feet

Postby VN2NJ » Tue Apr 07, 2009 7:46 am

Ok the conversation goes from bloody/pussy ear to sweaty feet! DD's feet are ALWAYS super sweaty! I put light socks and shoes on her and when I take her shoes off her socks are always soaked....ewwwh! Does anyone else have kids like this? It is turned into a funny kinda thing tho b/c when I take her socks off, she will lay on her back and smell her "stinky" feet and go "Ahhhhh...." and smile!

My son also has sweaty, stinky feet! Once we take his socks off he will pick them up and say "Stinky!" while wrinkling his nose.

The other day we were at my sister's house and she took her socks off to put on a pair of sandals. As soon as she took off her socks Evan picked them up and said "Stinky!".

Yes... I have two with "sweaty, stanky (yes... STANKY  ) feet!!! I have them, too! We just try to let them air as much as possible and at this point we are fine. As they get older, we may start using some powder to help with the moisture problem. But as long as the feet aren't turning colors on the bottom, I think you're okay. If they turn colors, you might want to have them checked out by your Ped. Nothing like a STANKY FOOT

I swear by real name brand crocks. In the winter, EJ wears socks with them. They are the only shoe that does not result in stinky wet feet. I don't care HOW they look on him, I'm just so thankful we don't have to wash feet every night in the sink!!!

Crocs with sock work okay, but I find that Crocs without socks result in really SWEATY FEET since they are made of rubber. Hope you have better luck than we have with them :D

My Korean Dh also gets sweaty hands and feet to the point sometimes they feel like he is dripping water from his hands. It is caused by the below condition which is present more frequently in Asian populations. i attached a website below to explain it more fully. DH has used botax treatments in the past on his hands which make the sweating stop. But that is only a temporary solution.

My father is a general dermatologist and I worked in a peds derm clinic at CHOP. Both my father and the derm I worked with would tell you to put them in white cotton socks and sandals! Yeah, it never went over well with the mothers!!!

Make sure the get the crocks with the holes in it, not the galosh type that cover your whole foot.

Ej is sweat free in those!!

PS- in the excercise world "cotton is rotten". It soaks up the wet and doesn't let it go. It may seem like overkill but you can go to REI or a sports store and get wicking socks.

My feet sweat a lot in the Crocs, but hopefully they'll work for her. Just letting you know it may not solve the problem. I always do way better if I wear socks.

Yeah I got her the caymans (ones with holes). I am hoping the air circulation will help keep everything dry. It is so gross when she walks on the floor and it sounds like suction cups  !!!!
