Power of Attorney

Hi all. My husband may be traveling alone to China for our second adoption. In preparation for our journey to unite with Natalie, we have to sign, notarize and authenticate a Power of Attorney document, naming him as the agent. Has anyone done this? Holt says any form will do, however, the consulate sent back the three page form we had notarized and authenticated stating it did not have enough stamps and seals. GRRR! So now we are looking for a one page POW. We are in California, but I don't think it really matters. Thanks, Melinda

Steve Hejna at Holt sent us an example of a simple POA. We had it notarized, state certified, and authenticated at the San Francisco Consulate last year without any problems. We are using the same form this year and so far, there have been no issues.

Thank You. I wonder why he didn't send us that? He just told my husband any would do. I will have my hubby email him on Monday. How many pages is it?

Steve may not be aware that there have been problems with POA's of multiple pages. The example that was sent to us is very basic, and less than one page. If you'd like, I will pm you the form. When I took it with me last year to adopt our second son, it was looked over briefly by the Civil Affairs officials on the day I met our son, and I believe our guide did a brief translation of it and that was all.
