I have not posted in quite a while, but have been lurking often  I have a great deal of respect for the great job the moderators are doing. Most of the hard work is often not visable and Im sure they put a great deal of hours in for all our benifits :D

I also give stinkyferit my vote :!:

I give Stinky Ferit a yes vote. Elfkin, if you meant this Andrea thanks but no thanks. Being a moderator is a tough job for sure.

Yeah, I meant you. I think you'd be great, and yes, I'm sure it is time consuming!

Thanks to the moderators for all they do. I imagine it would be frustrating to try to communicate with the appropriate party but not get a reply. I haven't experienced that here, but I know they have a lot to do.

There was a while when it seemed a lot of people PMed the mods to request posts be taken down. There's always the one or two that get a kick out of using nasty names and the mods are kept busy with him/her. Or someone posts something that others disagree with, and then complains and asks that their original post and all related posts be removed. But that was a few years ago, and that seems to happen less.

The unpleasantness of the board seems to have dissipated some (the election brought out some ugliness, and there's been some downright racism on here). I think a lot of people have moved to FB where I guess there is no moderation and you only have to hear your friends (no opposing views, I believe, like you have in a public forum). I hope the mods keep doing what they are doing (although with a few, they could do it even more!).

We're not talking about active mods. I'm talking about mods who have left and never been replaced. I feel they should be replaced with more visible, posting moderators.

Why the fuss over the moderators???? I really don't get it. They are doing a great job. I have been on the boards for almost 10 years and I think contacted a moderator once.
For those that feel the need to contact the mods frequently maybe the problem lies with you instead of them.
Moderators should be behind the scenes and impartial. You certainly don't need to be an active poster to know what is going on.
I personally think our moderators do a fanstastic job. The craziness of the past is rare and it is wonderful to not get all the disgusting spam that used to show up all the time.

YES! Thank you! I seriously don't know what the big deal is!! The moderators do a fabulous job... this is just an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD... not some life or death job... yet the moderators volunteer their time to keep it running smoothly.

Moderators need to be impartial and behind the scenes to take care of the riff-raff.. A moderator that is a 'frequent poster' will do no better of a job deleting spam than someone behind the scenes. I think I've had contact with a moderator once, maybe twice, to ask about a name change... that's it.

Diito to Stacey and Kim's post. I have been here over 7yrs and never had a problem contacting the moderators. They have always been great and very impartial.

Agreed. Don't get what the big deal is. This is one of the smoothest forums I have ever belonged to.

THE POINT THE "OP" POSTED IS THAT IF A NEWBIE OR ANYONE ELSE NEEDS HELP YOU CAN PM A MOD AND NOT HEAR BACK FOR WEEKS, IF YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR 100 YEARS AND DON'T NEED TO ASK A QUESTION-LUCKY YOU. I DON'T PM ANYMORE EVER EITHER, BUT IF I EVER DID IN THE PAST I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE UNDER 2 WEEKS EITHER. THE MODS WE HAVE NOW FOR THE MAJORITY, DON'T POST, AREN'T VISIBLE OR ARE NEVER EVEN ON THE BOARDS-EVER. IS CHANGE WRONG? SHOULDN'T SOME NEW PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY, SAY "POST" BE MODERATING????? MY VOTE IS FOR CHANGE FOR SOME OF THE MODS, NOT ALL, BUT SOME AREN'T EVEN ACTIVE AT ALL....... LIKE WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD FOR AMY IN PA? OR SOME MODS POST MAYBE, ONCE EVRY 6 MONTHS. THAT ISN'T IMHO WHAT IS BEST, MAYBE MORE ACTIVE MEMBERS? SOMEONE PEOPLE ACTUALLY HAVE HEARD OF, OR READ A POST. ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS, AND YEARS KNOW WHO THESE MODS ARE........ THAT'S ALL NOT GETTING A RESPONSE FOR 2 WEEKS ISN'T WORKING.... THAT'S ALL. LONG LIVE THE MODS WHO MODERATE, BUT THOSE WHO DON'T SHOULD BE REPLACED. TIME AND SEASON....SOME PEOPLE INCL. MODS JUST MOVE ON..............

   Wow, Elfkin, I can tell by the ALL CAPS that you are passionate about moderators for some reason!!! Didn't mean to get you so riled up! I just think there are bigger fish to fry in this world than who is moderating what and how often they're here or how popular they are. Moderators are to be IMPARTIAL... that's a bit hard to do when you are a frequent poster. I just don't get the correlation between frequency of posting and being a "good" moderator. All of this LET'S CHANGE THE MODERATORS talk is pretty disrespectful to our current moderators in my opinion. So what if it takes a week or two to hear back from a mod? This is an internet message board, not life or death! Most people don't spend hours and hours on the computer (nor should we expect a moderator to.) Personally I think moderating is a thankless job, one that honestly I wouldn't WANT to take the time to do... What can be so dire that someone needs to hear back ASAP? or even within a week or two? I just don't understand.

Ouch! My ears are hurting. Maybe a new complaint forum can be created and Elfkin can moderate. You can even type all of your posts in CAPS LOCK there.
