All of the Newbies Stand Up!

Postby Annabel_29 » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:25 pm

My Family were just approved a couple of weeks ago, and are in the process of starting our home study and collecting documents. I would love to hear from some of the other new families in process! It was great to see that we were one of the 25 new applications accepted before the program was closed. I hope to hear from some of you beginning this wonderful process too! We will all need support as we make our way through.

My name is Kelli, and we have 2 boys.
Application 12/2010
Applied for a Girl 0-2 yr old

Hi, Kelli!

It's very exciting to see that 25 new families are now part of the process. My husband and I applied in July just a few days after the program reopened and submitted our dossier in December.

Welcome to your family and the 23 other new families. Everyone on the forum has been very kind and supportive. I wish you the best for speedy paperwork!

Hi Kelli!!!

Welcome!! We also have two boys and are hoping for a 0-2 year old little girl. We had our dossier submitted in September.

So glad they opened it up for 25 new families. We were the last family included before they closed it in May. I was hoping they would open it soon!!

It is great to have you on here! Everyone is wonderful!!!

Hi Kristen and Catie!

Thanks for posting, my Husband and I are going to our first interview for our home study in the next week or so. I am anxious to get it going! I am already beginning to collect information for the dossier, but I am kinda wanting to wait to see what I will need for the home study so I will not have to go back and do stuff again. I hope all of our paperwork goes smoothly. I am glad for you all to have that part over with, I'd say you all are relieved! I know I will be when we are done. I am so glad that these forums are here so we can keep in touch through the whole process, because no one really knows what it is like unless you are going through it! Thanks again for writing back, and I hope to hear from you both again soon! :D

The paperwork process can be crazy and frustrating, but it does get done. Keep plugging away at it. I am praying it all goes smoothly for you!! We ordered extra copies of birth certificates to have them on hand, and it is good to get extra copies of anything you can. We found we needed a lot more for the dossier than the homestudy. Keep checklists and start looking at what you need for the dossier even while you are doing the homestudy. Best advice, celebrate each little step that gets you closer!! ;-)

We are new! We sent in our application in November for either gender. We are sorting papers and working on our dossier as much as possible while figuring out what needs to take place to complete a home study.

Hi everyone!
We are the Griffins, and we applied with Holt in October. We are still working through our Dossier, but we are about to get our first draft of our Home Study. We are open to either gender and up to 3 years old. We are excited about this process, and it's good to see how active this forum is.

Hi everyone!

We are Ajay and Angie from Tampa, Florida. We applied in September. We are (anxiously) awaiting certification of our dossier and then we can send it. Hopefully that will come back in the next few weeks. We are open to either gender. This will be our first child. We are thrilled! I am happy to "meet" some of the 25 new families on this string!

Hi everyone,
We're also new to the Thailand program. My husband, Chris and I submitted our application in November and just had our first home study meeting last week. This will be our first child, and we couldn't be more excited! We just moved to Virginia Beach. Chris is a Marine Corps F-18 pilot, so moving is kind of a regular thing for us. I recently finished a second degree in nursing and I'm looking for my first job as a pediatric RN.

I have to admit, I've been peeking in on the Thailand forums for a few months now, and figured it's about time to show my face! I've already learned so much from reading other posts, and the support here seems wonderful.

We're hoping to start a blog soon, but one thing at a time...

Hello All.

My husband and I live in north central Washington state, with our two bio boys. We are just about to send off our dossier-- tomorrow, if all goes as planned. I am excited to have this resource to find connections with folks going through a similar process, as we live in a very small town.

I would love to get blog info from you, if you have one.

Thanks, and be well, Deirdre (and husband Blake)

Hey There! We applied with Holt in September and we are finishing up with our home study now. Unfortunately, it took a little while because it was being done through the holiday season. Although, I should say, unfortunately, I know it's all going to happen in God's perfect timing, so I've got to quit worrying! This was a great idea to post a question for all the "newbies", it's so cool to see so many other people at right around the same point in the process. I wish we could just all meet for lunch! ;-) I hope to get to know many of you throughout the rest of this process.

God Bless!

Hello all,
We are also newbies to this process. Our names are Chris and Tiffany Porter. We have 2 biological boys ages 6 and 2. We are in the process of adopting a little girl as young as possible. We applied to Holt right after Thanksgiving and are now in the mist of completing our home study. We will be glad to be done with all the paperwork. It's nice to see others in similar situations.

Hey Porter's,

You all sound a lot like us. We have 2 biological boys, they are 5 and 3 year old. We have applied for a little girl 0-2 yr old. We can't wait to get all of this paperwork done and just be able to wait for our daughter! We applied in Dec. and are in the middle of our home study. We hope to be done with this step by the end of Feb. It is all so overwhelming! It helps to be able to communicate with people going through the same thing at the same time! I hope the rest of your paperchase goes smoothly. Let us know how everything is going!
