Elfkin,

I don't think you called anyone out or were out of line. I agree that I have pm'd a moderator and not heard back but usually the problem is taken care of or addressed on whatever forum I'm pm'ing about.

Perhaps the mods take care of things behind the scenes and don't feel a need to respond to everything that is brought to their attention.
I can't remember ever pm-ing a moderator. I always figured arguments or 'issues' would work themselves out in time.

Not everyone PM's a Mod for arguments, etc.. when I was a newbie, I pm'd them for process questions, or how the forums worked, like pm's, posting photos, etc.. stuff that I still couldn't quite figure out after reading the stickies, posts, etc...

Elfkin,

Why don't you just come right out and admit you are angling for a moderator post? That way maybe someone will throw you a bone if they know specifically what you want, or maybe not - who knows - couldn't hurt to try.

Just a quick comment about "process questions" -- Process related questions are not actually a moderator's "responsibility". We are lucky in that some moderators happen to be experts in the current process, but that is based on their role as forum participants, not because they are moderators. Being a "process expert" is not the moderator's responsibility as per Holt. The role of process "expert" is first and foremost the role of the placing agency, especially because the process change. There are also peer resources (i.e. forum participants regardless of their moderator status) who have enough background and experience to answer questions from a "been there, done that" perspective. As much as some would like this to be a moderator's role, officially, it is not.

As for me, I think the moderators do a great job and am very grateful for them. I've served on my neighborhood association board and in other similar roles and know that, in general, volunteer administrative jobs tend to be under-appreciated and much more work than anyone realizes. And it can be hard to get competent volunteers, which would make me concerned about instituting some type of term limit on the moderators.

I am not considered impartial enough......which is fine by me. I have volunteered to help maintain lists, etc... So I'm not complaining w/o offering to help, but too opinionated.   That, I'm not sorry about  . The thing is, my concerns I took to a mod. and she agreed, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Some mods are MIA..... that's all. The OP said they don't get responded to, yeah, I know I didn't used to either. If you ask a question and they can't or don't know, they could easily direct you to the agencies...the point at hand is if you PM some of the mods you won't hear back as per the OP and I am merely agreeing the same thing has happened to me more than once before too. Why that is an arguable fact, I'm not sure..... it HAS been my experience.

malie - thank you for taking the time to post. Explanation not necessary but appreciated. Thanks again to you and all the moderators for all you do.

Who said posts had to be necessary Robin? Was your post necessary? Is posts being necessary somewhere in the invisible rulebook that the clique of proper etiquette grievance mongers deem necessary for us common folk?

My post count is woefully inaccurate, but no matter. I would say that probably close to 100% of them were probably unnecessary (at least for me). So what's your point? Assuming you even have one.

You have my vote. You post often, you're visible, been around here a long time, and you're an ACTIVE participant as far as people who post to the BB can see. All thing I think are important. Malie? Hillary? What do you say? All in Favor? Maybe replace Amy in PA, since she is not participating in the BB anymore (doesn't mean she is not WONDERFUL NOW, and didn't serve amazingly when she was active). Just lets re-new!

Along with "stinkyferit",I also think "Andrea" would make a good moderator too. And Kelly CA -I never remember your new name that you've had for what, 2 years?
