Rebecca, great news! Did you find out ahead of time that they accepted it? Or was it a surprise? We are almost at 1 month since sending in the info...hoping for good news for us too!!

We got a "weird" letter saying something about needing more time or something over the weekend and then our refund just appeared in our acct. I am expecting another official letter soon in the mail. I just happened upon our refund via our online banking...

I'll take it either way...now we can get busy on getting a new septic system (glamourous I know).

I just got a notice letter yesterday saying that they received our info and were reviewing it. Don't know if it's the same thing you got, but we did get FOUR copies...four envelopes, four stamps, four identical letters addressed to both DH and I. Made me laugh a little at the absurdity of government waste!

Hopefully that means we will get something soon. Don't feel bad about glamorous septic system...our refund is likely buying me a car, we had to enact the "do not resuscitate" order on my aging vehicle!

Sara,
Just got a letter saying they were reviewing our file and we'd hear from them by July... totally absurd waste of paper and time for those involved to have to send that out...

My Dh works in local gov't (city) and let me tell you he'd never stand for this..thank goodness.

Hope you see some funds in your acct this week.

I created the original post and we are holding our breath cuz' our tax guy, who we've used for years and years doesn't seem to know what to do and/ or has not returned many, many phone calls and emails.

We have our expenses from Holt and we have I think 30 days to respond to the IRS letter reviewing our expenses.

Good heavens.... Dossier seems easy compared to this!

I'll likely do as much as I can at this point on my own, including calling the 800 IRS number! Oy! I plan to get arm cramps for the amount of time I'll be on hold... I'll make good use of the time! I'll either draw or meditate! ;o)

2ndtime, I'm hoping for good news for you!

DH gave me some happy news yesterday, the tax credit amount was shown as pending in our checking account! Our additional info packet, set up similarly to how aophotography suggested earlier, was received on May 3 and we got a letter from them about 3 weeks later saying they received it. So for others who are waiting, it looks to be about a 7-8 week lag right now between them receiving your info and getting the credit.

Whheeeee! I'm so happy for you!

It looks like there is a light at the end of our tunnel, it's dim but it's there!!!! Clearly our tax guy was not experienced in this area so I called IRS directly with questions about the audit. Basically our tax guy wrote $22,000 for our adoption expenses; we don't know how he selected that number and can't believe we were not aware even though we think we read everything!!!!

Anywho, Holt had a great itemized list of our expenses and Lotus Travel had another great list! If only I had known to keep alllllll receipts in China I would have! But, it looks like our expenses for all three of us going to China to bring Daisy home came close to the amount if not a tad' beyond...The Lovely IRS woman told me to fax it all over and that either we will rcv' a check or requests for more info...I'm certain it will be a check at this point!

And to think this is all for our 2010 taxes, which took forever to file as it took forever to get Daisy's China name correct and a ssn! Oy! If I knew now what I needed to know then, I would have been much more firm in China when I SAW that Daisy's name was INCORRECT! And despite being told it would be corrected at POINT OF ENTRY, it was not!

In the end, I would beg, borrow n' steal a million if I had to in order to adopt my Delicious daughters so the fact that we get anything back blows me away!!!!!

Happy Friday.... Hopefully I'll get time to post a nice fun freebie on my http://www.chinagirllove.blogspot.com today! I'm thinking I'll do little note cards for making all kinds of fun summer notations!!!! C
