Holt's unpaid internships are for individuals interested in gaining professional work experience. In order to intern with Holt, you must be enrolled in a college or university or have graduated within the past year. For more information, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below. Global Internships
Holt works exclusively with IE3 Global Internships for international internships. If global internships are available, they will be posted on IE3's website and will be screened through the IE3 Global Internships program. Please apply through their website: http://ie3global.ous.edu.

How to Apply for U.S. Internship
If you are interested in applying for a posted U.S. internship, please submit the following requirements to the email address listed in the specific job posting:
  • Cover letter stating goals and objectives for internship placement (please reference the specific internship) and future professional goals
  • Current resume
  • Beginning and ending dates of availability and days/hours available to work
  • Two references (one academic and one professional)

Why consider an internship with Holt?
Holt is the leading adoption and child welfare agency currently working in 14 countries. Internships are excellent opportunities for individuals considering a career in social work, child welfare, and non-profit administration to gain professional experience. They can provide an excellent opportunity to apply your education and experience to projects that contribute to Holt's effort to find families for children. Internships are administrative in nature and do not involve hands-on work with children in orphanages.

How does the program work?
Holt has a limited number of unpaid internships each year. For international internships, applicants must apply through the IE3 Global Internships program. For internships at Holt headquarters, opportunities will be posted on our website as they become available.

What costs does the intern cover?
All internships are unpaid, though some international internships include a small living stipend which will be identified in the position description. Interns are expected to pay for all of their own expenses, including but not limited to: accommodation, transportation, meals, insurance, etc.

How do I apply for an international internship?
All international internships are exclusively through our partnership with the IE3 Global Internships Program. International placements for the internship program depend on requests from Holt field offices and vary from year to year. All applicants must apply to the IE3 program for acceptance. Please do not submit an application for an international internship directly to Holt. In the recent past, opportunities have been available in Thailand, Guatemala, Vietnam and Cambodia. How do I apply for an internship at Holt headquarters?
From time to time, internships are available at Holt headquarters in Eugene, Oregon. Our team members identify needs and generate job descriptions which are posted on a rolling basis on Holt's website. Holt will only accept applications for posted positions. All applications for U.S.-based internships will be reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview. Due to the volume of applications we receive, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
