Current and Urgent Needs
Gifts of Hope Catalog
You can give critically needed items to orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children though Holt's "Gifts of Hope" program. This catalog lists items and services you can fund and bring hope to children in our projects around the world.
These items also make especially meaningful gifts in honor of someone you care about. Give an item from Holt's "Gifts of Hope" and we'll send an acknowledgement card to your spouse, sibling, parent or friend. Imagine... children in Ethiopia receiving milk formula because of a gift given in your honor. Wouldn't you feel honored?
Adoption Program News
Holt International is actively seeking new adoptive families for the following programs. If you or someone you know might be interested, please contact us. Or, if you have ideas for how these programs can be promoted in your local area and need Holt’s support to do so, please contact us.
China Child of Promise option
Holt International is placing more children from China who have minor/correctable conditions with loving, adoptive parents than any other U.S. based agency. We are seeing waiting times reduce to half that of the standard China adoption process (which is about 35-40 months from application to placement) for families open to parenting a Chinese boy or girl, infant-on-up, who has a special care need. We see a wide range of special needs from minor/correctable to moderate. Conditions we commonly see include cleft lip/palate, heart condition (VSD or ASD), missing or extra digits, or other conditions. The decision to parent a child with a special need should be made after carefully considering the implications, educating yourself on specific conditions, and talking openly with a social worker. To learn more about how to start the China Child of Promise option, please contact Emily Lund.
We are also actively seeking adoptive family stories, photos, and blogs. If you know of a good story or blog, please send it our way, either to Sally Dunbar or Alice Evans, Managing Editor.
Bulgaria Reopens for International Adoption
Holt International was recently invited by adoption authorities in Bulgaria to find permanent, loving homes for Bulgarian children. Adoptive families are needed for boys and girls (especially boys) 2–6 years of age at time of placement. The process is expected to take a total of 18–24 months; parents are encouraged to be flexible as this program was recently reopened by Bulgaria. Couples and singles are welcome to apply. To learn more about the Bulgaria Adoption Program, please contact Emily Lund.
Families Adopt from Ethiopia
Our first eleven families have returned from Ethiopia and brought their children home. To follow their journey, check out Holt’s blog. There are now over 80 families in our Ethiopia program, experiencing a timeframe of approximately 12 - 18 months to adopt healthy, infant boys and girls. To learn more about the need for adoptive parents in the Ethiopia Adoption Program, Emily Lund or Stephanie Gibson.
